The ginger lemon mocktail is one refreshing drink. A local Atlanta restaurant favorite, Wahoo Grill, serves this up for Sunday brunch.
This is Wahoo Grill’s exact recipe for the ginger lemon mocktail, they were so kind to share. What’s surprising are the ingredients, this drink has spices added to it. The spices give the drink it’s rust color with red flecks and a nice kick.
A dash of turmeric and a pinch of cayenne gives the mocktail a spicy kick. If I didn’t know what the ingredients where I would be left wondering. It’s one of those recipes with a “secret” to it.
How To Make The Ginger Lemon Mocktail
Who would have thought water could taste so special? The ginger lemon mocktail is mainly water with some fresh lemon juice, ginger syrup, turmeric and cayenne pepper added. Who do you think thought up a cocktail mix like that? Whoever it was is genius.
Add all ingredients to a martini shaker with ice, shake and pour into a cocktail glass. The shaker is a great way to mix the ingredients and chill the drink without diluting it with water. If you don’t have a shaker you can stir vigorously and add an ice cube.
What Is Ginger Syrup?
I bought the ginger syrup premade from Wahoo Wine & Provisions next door to the restaurant. You can also try ginger syrup brands here. Or just make your own. The ginger syrup is so versatile you might just want to make a big batch and keep it in the refrigerator.
Once I use up my bottle of ginger syrup I’ll write a separate post on how to make ginger syrup. Until then, here’s a down and dirty way to make it.
Peel and slice about a cup of fresh ginger. Bring to a boil 1 cup sugar and 1 cup of water. Once boiling and the sugar has dissolved, turn down the heat to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes. Take off heat and let sit for about an hour. Once cool you can bottle and keep in the refrigerator for up to a month.
The Ginger Lemonade Mocktail Is A Low Calorie Drink
Wahoo Grill’s Revival mocktail is low calorie, low carb deliciousness. With only 12 calories and 3 grams of carbs it’s a great drink to replace wine or beer. A typical glass of wine is about 120 calories and around 4-5 grams of carbs. Beer is typically 145 calories and 11 carbs.
Why a Mocktail Instead Of A Cocktail?
Everyone likes to relax with a special drink, that doesn’t mean it always has to have alcohol in it. I’ve recently been trading out my glass of wine at night with mocktails, and this ginger lemon mocktail is so refreshing, and with the spices added to it you only want to sip it, so it really feels special and more like a cocktail.
Pour the ginger lemon mocktail into a cocktail glass, any fancy one will do. Sit back, relax and enjoy your drink.
