Easy Food To Take On The Road
Too busy to prep, cook and wrap snacks and meals for on the go? Tired of “wearing” your food as you munch in the car, walking or running to your next event and spilling your food all over yourself? We give you recipes, techniques and how-to’s to make food easy to take on the road. We also include meals and snacks that take little hands on time…….because let’s face it, we aren’t always on the run, but we are always short of time.
All of us resort to drive through food or heavily processed convenience foods at times. It’s just a fact of life and how we all live our busy lives. The majority of the time we want as close to whole foods as possible. On The Go Bites is full of recipes that let you take control of what ingredients are included and sources for packaging your homemade treats to eat on the go.
Special diets are all over the place, when appropriate we include how to take a recipe and adjust to low-carb, keto, paleo, vegetarian or plant-based. After all, all family members aren’t necessarily on the same diet if on a diet at all. I’m part of the “Moderation Diet”. Not really a diet. Basically, be smart about what and how much you put in your body.
I spend the better part of the day working my day job in sales for a corporate venturing and innovation consultancy. I love my job but wanted a creative outlet and I found that in On The Go Bites blog. I’ll admit, the blog takes a TON of my free time, spending many nights and most weekends devoted to recipe creation, cooking, baking, taking pictures, editing posts and pictures, etc. Blogs take a lot of work but I love it. I hope even more that you love reading the blog and using our recipes, tips and techniques!
Here I am with our three boys and my husband. The picture was actually taken at the top of Ponce City Market in Atlanta where we took our youngest son, Drew, to celebrate for his 16th birthday. If you can’t tell, it was freezing that night! That’s Midtown behind us.

OUT THE DOOR IN MINUTES
The purpose of On The Go Bites recipes is for portable, easy to handle food, this usually means quick and easy, sometimes it does not necessarily mean fast. Sometimes prep is only 15 minutes but the cook time is several hours, good point would be a slow cooker recipe. If a recipe takes longer than 20 minutes or so then we supply you with freezing tips so that it can be ready at a moment’s notice by pulling the treat out of the freezer and reheating in a toaster oven or microwave. If you want a recipe that is completed in 15 minutes or less then go to the Out The Door In Minutes section. These “recipes” are more ideas than complex recipes, but who doesn’t need a little nudge every now and then to get out of the rut of the same old thing. Or worse, cruising through a drive through for a sodium filled breakfast and land fill packaging!
HOW TO
Now that you are armed with Grab ‘n Go ideas, what is the best way to store, reheat and package these snacks and meals? The HOW TO section gives you ideal tips on how and when to freeze food, the best way to reheat them and unique wrapping/packaging ideas to keep them neat and easy to eat.
KIDS SNACKS
For those of us who have kids, the need for snacks that can double as mini meals is a daily dilemma. Whether it’s a snack that needs to sit in the backpack all day until baseball practice or dance rehearsal, something tasty for snack time at school or nourishment between a double shift waiting tables, ON THE GO BITES provides you with ideas beyond the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Don’t get me wrong, the PB&J is a long time staple for a reason. But all of us want some variety in life.
SPECIAL DIETS
Whether it’s Gluten Free, Protein Power or Low Carb, we provide those tags so that you can find just what you are looking for. We’ll be adding more diets like Paleo, Dairy Free and Vegetarian. Please bear with us as we are new in Q4 of 2016 and are growing as quickly as we can.
